It’s also made entirely in the Instant Pot, which makes for easy cleanup. Just add your favorite side, and you have a quick dinner that’s sure to please!
How to make Instant Pot turkey sloppy joes

Step 1: Press sauté on the Instant Pot.
Step 2: When it reads “hot”, add the ground turkey. Cook, stirring regularly, until no longer pink.
Step 3: Stir in the diced onion and diced bell pepper. Cook, stirring regularly, for 2-3 minutes.
Step 4: Add the garlic, and cook, stirring the entire time, for 30 seconds.
Step 5: Press cancel.
Step 6: Stir in the broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.
Step 7: Add the ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt and pepper, and liquid smoke, if using. Do not stir.
Step 8: Close and lock the lid. Be sure that the pressure release valve is set to sealing. Press manual high pressure and adjust the cooking time to 5 minutes.
Step 9: Once the cooking time has finished, let the pressure release naturally for 5 minutes.
Step 10: Carefully turn the pressure release valve to venting. Unlock and remove the lid.
Step 11: Give everything a good stir.
Step 12: Serve on buns.
Tips
- Doubling: This recipe can easily be doubled in a 6 quart Instant Pot.
- Freezing: The sloppy joe mixture freezes well. Just make the turkey mixture as-directed. Then, let the mixture cool to room temperature. Place it in a freezer-safe container, and freeze for up to 3 months.
Storage
Store any leftover sloppy joes in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The sloppy joes will keep for up to 4 days when properly stored in the fridge.
