Instant Pot Swedish Beef Tips are tender beef tips in a rich, creamy brown gravy. The beef tips have all of the flavors of Swedish meatballs but are so much easier to make!

There’s a reason why Swedish meatballs have become a favorite worldwide! The combination of the meatballs and the creamy brown sauce is just so good!
This Instant Pot Swedish beef tip recipe is a take on the classic recipe. This easy recipe uses stew meat instead of meatballs for a faster, easier meal that still has all of the flavors of the original!
How to make Instant Pot Swedish beef tips
Step 1: Press sauté.
Step 2: Once the pot reads “Hot”, add the oil.
Step 3: Working in batches, add beef stew meat and season with black pepper.
Step 4: Cook until the outside has browned. Don’t overcrowd the inner pot or it will steam, not brown.
Step 5: Once the beef has browned, remove to a dish. Press cancel.
Step 6: Stir in 1 cup beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.
Step 7: Return the beef to the pot.
Step 8: Cover, and cook on manual high pressure. Adjust the cooking time to 25 minutes. Be sure that the pressure release valve is set to sealing.
Step 9: When the cooking time has finished, let the pressure release naturally for 20 minutes. Release any remaining pressure, and unlock the lid.
Step 10: Stir remaining ¼ cup broth and flour together in a small bowl. Add to beef cooking liquid and stir in.
Step 11: Press sauté. Cook until thickened, stirring regularly.
Step 12: Press cancel. Stir in cream, sour cream, and mustard.
Step 13: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve topped with fresh parsley, if desired.
Serving suggestions
The recipe makes a fair amount of sauce. I like to serve the beef tips over mashed potatoes as they pair well with the gravy.
If you don’t like mashed potatoes, egg noodles, rice, or riced cauliflower would all work well.
The sauce is rich, and I serve the Swedish beef tip with either steamed green beans or a green salad. I also pair this dish with whole berry cranberry sauce.
Storage
Store any leftovers in an airtight container. The beef tips will keep for up to 4 days when properly stored in the fridge.

Notes
- Beef broth: I like to use reduced-sodium broth to control the salt level. Feel free to use regular broth (or stock) or no salt broth.
- Heavy cream: I don’t recommend using half-and-half or milk. It will give you thinner sauce.
- Sour cream: I recommend using full-fat sour cream. Greek yogurt also works well. I don’t recommend fat-free sour cream in this recipe.
