2cupschicken brothvegetable broth, or water, divided
24ouncesrefrigerated tortellini
24ouncejar marinara sauce
1tablespoonItalian seasoning
Mozzarella or parmesan cheese
Instructions
Press sauté.
When the pot reads "hot", add the ground Italian sausage.
1 pound ground Italian sausage
Cook, stirring to break up, until browned. Drain all but 1 tablespoon of grease.
Stir in the onion and cook until softened.
1 cup diced white or yellow onion
Add the garlic, and cook, stirring the entire time for 30 seconds.
3 cloves garlic
Stir in 1/2 cup of broth or water, and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.
Layer in the fresh tortellini, marinara, and Italian seasoning.
24 ounces refrigerated tortellini, 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning, 24 ounce jar marinara sauce
Pour the remaining 1 ½ cups broth or water into the marinara jar. Close it, and shake it. Pour the contents into the inner pot. Do not stir.
Close and lock the lid. Press manual high pressure and adjust the cooking time to 0 minutes. Be sure the pressure release valve is set to sealing. It should take about 10 minutes to come to pressure.
Once the cooking time has finished, carefully turn the pressure release valve to venting to release the pressure.
Unlock and remove the lid, and give everything a good stir.
Sprinkle with mozzarella or parmesan just before serving.
Notes
Ground Italian sausage: Hot or mild Italian sausage will work. You could also substitute ground beef if you prefer.
Tortellini: You can use any flavor of refrigerated tortellini that you prefer. I like to use the refrigerated cheese tortellini from Costco.
Marinara: Choose a marinara that you like the flavor of as it will be what gives your pasta most of its flavor.
